The 2019 edition of Ghana Music Awards UK came off over the weekend at the Discovery Centre in London on Saturday, October 5, 2019.
Dancehall musician Shatta Wale emerged as the Artiste of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards UK (GMAs UK).
Shatta Wale beat contenders like Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Medikal, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, and King Promise to win the ultimate prize for the night.
The Melissa hitmaker also won the Dancehall Artiste of the Year as well as the Most Popular Song of the Year award with his My Level song.
However, it came as a surprise when Stonebwoy won nothing at the just ended Ghana Music Awards UK despite his huge following.
Stonebwoy was nominated in 3 categories but unfortunately, he lost all of the to Shatta Wale.
Some fans of Stonebwoy have already taken to social media to chastise the award scheme, with some labelling the scheme as not credible.
But clarifying the issue, Mr. Nii Ofori aka Alordia who happens to be part of the organizers stated that Stonebwoy’s bossy attitude is the reason for his no show.
He said; “Stonebwoy didn’t win any awards at the Ghana Music Awards UK  because he didn’t post asking his fans to vote for me. How to share even a common flyer asking his fans to vote was a problem for Stonebwoy or maybe he didn’t want it and that was why he didn’t worry himself to ask the fans to vote for him.”
He subsequently advised the Dancehall/Reggae artist to slow down on his pride: “I think Stonebwoy needs to slow down on this attitude of always feeling too big to do something. How many minutes would it take to even post asking fans to vote for you? Other Artistes were consistently reminding the fans to vote and they voted for them and hence they winning various awards on the night”
