Nana Agyemang Badu Dua I, Chief of Kunsu in the Ashanti Region and husband to ace actress Mercy Asiedu has offered 300 acres of land to the Government of Ghana.
Recently, stakeholders of Kumawood are lobbying for the NPP to build a film village in Kumasi which we guess will be almost identical to Hollywood located in Los Angeles in the US.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, some of these Akan-speaking movie makers presented a petition to parliament for the government to rescind its earlier decision of building the Film Village at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.
They argued that the Ashanti Region was the hub of movie making and needs the film village more than the Eastern Region.
However, the Film Village upon a series of deliberations, consensus was reached and therefore Kunsu in Ahafo Ano South District happens to be the preferred choice.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony,  Nana Agyemang Badu Dua I explained it was important to situate the Film Village in Kunsu in the Ashanti Region especially considering the fact that production of a similar village has commenced.
Mercy Asiedu speaking also speaking at the handing over ceremony recounted events that unfolded when actresses in the Ashanti Region met the President, Nana Akufo-Addo immediately after his assumption of office and entrusted the President to deliver on his promise.
In attendance at the august ceremony was Honourable Johnson Adu Kwaku, MP for Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, Ashanti Region, Mr. Samuel Nyamekye, CEO of Miracle Films, Mr. James Aboagye, President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) and a number of personalities from both the movie industry and the media.
