Reports from the Ashanti Region indicate that eleven children have lost their lives to floods within a month-and-a-half, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has said.
The Regional Director of NADMO, Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire who made the disclosure on Monday, 28 October 2019 said the latest casualty was a nine-year-old boy, whose body was retrieved on Sunday at Abuakwa.
He added that all the children who have lost their lives in different floods were under 10 years.
He indicated that pupils in the area will be taught how to swim to prevent being swept away by floods.
“For almost one-and-a-half month now, children under 10 years have been swept away by rains. There are 11 of them now, this is very alarming,” he bemoaned.
