A bush fire has gutted over 200 acres of Mango Plantation in Tainso in the Tain District.

The mango plantation which has been destroyed by fire was meant to produce mango for a factory under the One District One Factory project.

A distraught Mr Yaw Gyan told the media that the 300-acre mango plantation which is nine years old had over 200 acres burnt completely estimated at several hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis.

“After harvesting I have invested about one billion old Ghana cedis into the farm but fire destroyed over 200 acres of the plantation” he lamented.

The CEO of Botim Farms continued

I have been doing this for so many years now. I started this farm as far back as 2010 and this is the first year that I’ve experienced such a thing because I put in every effort to protect the farm. So it is rather unfortunate. I am appealing to the government or anyone that matters who can assist me to help me get the farm onto its feet.”
