An Accra High Court has thrown out an application by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to search Facebook and phone records of Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress.
The ex-parte application was seeking the court’s order for the search of Mr Gyamfi’s mobile phones and disclosure of Facebook records but the judge has denied same.
The judge has described the CID’s application as “frivolous”.
Mr Gyamfi was at the television station as a studio panellist on the programme “Adekye Nsroma” after which the plain-clothed police officers, presumed to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) picked him and whisked him away.
They whisked him away in a white pick-up vehicle with registration number VR 4870 – 12.
