Y’all remember that GHOne TV anchor Serwaa Amihere was heavily chastised for saying betting is becoming a national crisis.
According to her in a tweet, the influx of sports betting among the youth in Ghana is fast becoming a national crisis, therefore, the government should act as quickly as possible to curb the developing menace.
Nonetheless, it seems more people are happy with the introduction of sports betting in the country including Fast-rising Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall musician J.Derobie.
J.Derobie who is currently a brand ambassador for betting company, BetPawa in an interview on Class FM stated that sports betting is a means of survival for many young men who could otherwise have been involved in other social vices.
“Betting is good, betting is good. It has helped most of the youth, it has pushed some of them from stealing and all that. You know, if it weren’t for betting, some [young] people would be on the streets stealing and robbing. So, the betting is good; that’s what I think,”  he said.
